Back to School Night for the 2019-2020 School Year

Back to School Night!

5:00-6:30 PM

6th Gr. & Electives Monday, August 12th

7th/8th Gr. Tuesday, August 13th

Come join us to hear more about Erie Middle School and how we will work together to empower our students to achieve academic growth and become lifelong learners, positive global contributors, and future leaders.

The evening will start in the gym with a brief overview of information, including our school vision and where to find resources to answers to your questions. Please bring your student’s schedule (since you will be following it)! During your rotation, you will hear a brief overview of the standards and objectives of your child’s different classes.  Sixth grade will have the opportunity to rotate to see all their classes and know where all their rooms will be before the first day of school. Seventh and eighth grade will rotate to see their core academic classes

Elective teachers will be in attendance for the sixth grade Back to School Night and will visit with 6th grade families from 6:10-6:30.  Since elective teachers will not attend on Tuesday, families of seventh/eighth grade students are welcome to stop by on Monday between 5:15-6:00 and visit their student’s elective teachers. Elective teachers will also be available to visit with at the EMS C.A.F.E on October 24, as well as conferences on October 8, October 10, October 14, and October 16.

The dedicated teaching staff at Erie Middle School follows the district vision to implement a guaranteed and viable curriculum that empowers students to achieve academic growth toward the standards. As such, our math teachers follow our district unit guides for what we want students to know and be able to do, and they employ research-based instructional strategies and resources to provide rigorous instruction and support. One tool used throughout the district in middle school math is a program called Digits.  Our teachers will be implementing the use of this tool for all of our math classes.  Families and students that would like to hear more about Digits and the online tools to assist with homework are welcome to attend a quick informational meeting in the Cafeteria from 6:30-6:50. Language Arts will continue to implement the resource of SpringBoard designed by the CollegeBoard.
