Off-Site Evacuation Drill

November 1st, 2019

Dear Erie Middle School Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for being such an important part of our community and providing a strong foundation for student success in our schools. In St. Vrain Valley Schools, student safety has always been a priority and we have taken many measures to ensure the highest levels of security and preparedness in our schools.

One area that St. Vrain has always been extremely proactive with is in our approach to practicing our emergency responses with students through drills and other safety measures. To this end, we would like to share that sometime during the week of November 4th, Erie Middle School will be conducting an off-site evacuation drill. Ahead of the drill, we will announce to students and teachers that we will be practicing a drill. This exercise will allow us to practice and then adjust our evacuation plan to ensure the highest level of safety and efficiency.

SVVSD Board Policy mandates that schools conduct off-site evacuation drills every three years. To this end, you will not need to sign a field trip permission slip. I would like to thank the Erie Police Department for assisting us during the drill.

If you have any questions about this protocol, please do not hesitate to contact me at 303-828-3391. Thank you for your support and everything you do to make our community such an outstanding environment for our children to thrive.

Sincerely,

Kim Watry

Principal, Erie Middle School
