Principal Update 4/30/2020

Hello Erie Families,

We want to thank you again for your continued partnership and support. Our collaborative efforts have resulted in 98% of our students engaged and connected. Our teachers have been incredible, and I am impressed with their tenacity and creativity in this unexpected situation. The news of not returning to the building this year was difficult to hear, but we understand the decision from Governor Polis and the need to be safe for our community. We may not be in the building together, but school is still open and the learning continues. We understand that this may pose unique challenges. Our hope is that you remain safe and healthy, and that students do what they can to stay engaged. Please continue to follow communication from our superintendent, Dr. Haddad, including the most recent update on April 20th regarding the end of the school year and summer programs. To view this information please visit

Please continue to follow the weekly email for communication for details and logistics regarding end of the year events listed below:

  • The last day for online instruction will be Thursday, May 21st, and teachers will be submitting fourth quarter grades on May 22nd.

  • Students will be able to pick up locker items Monday through Thursday, June 8th – 18th. Locker items will be bagged and labeled for quick retrieval. We will send a link for students to sign up for a 10-minute window. At this time, they should bring any library books, uniforms, or borrowed items they need to turn in. We will send further information about procedures to maintain social distancing. Yearbooks and art projects will be available to pick up. Parents/guardians may pick up any remaining medications at this time as well.

  • Students will retain their iPad over the summer. We will only collect iPads from students leaving the district. If your student is not returning to SVVSD, please call our Registrar, Kelli Crannell, for instructions.

  • Students returning to EMS may keep their musical instrument over the summer. Instruments that need to be repaired or need to be returned should be brought to the school as students collect locker items.

  • We will celebrate our 8th grade students with a video celebration we can watch together on Wednesday, May 20th at 7:00 pm. This celebration includes recognition of students with a cumulative 4.0 GPA and perfect attendance, a student speaker, and a slideshow of all 8th grade students with their name and photograph. We will use your student’s yearbook photograph from the fall. In order for your student to be included in the video, you must complete a permission slip in IC for online recognition. Please go to Parent Directions – Permission for Online Student Recognition to complete this step.

Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can support you in any way.
