Principal Update 11/6/2020

Greetings EMS Parents and Families,

I want to thank our staff and our families for your ongoing commitment to the success and safety of our students. Together, we continue to strive for excellence, even as we are faced with change and adversity. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating 218 students that achieved Principal’s Honor Roll last week, as well as 109 students on the Honor Roll. Many students are setting goals to be on the Principal’s Honor Roll at the end of second quarter, and others plan to show improvement in one or more classes. To aid in their goal achievement, we are offering additional opportunities for academic assistance. Students may stay after school on Tuesdays or Wednesdays for Tiger Support. This is a one hour study session to help with work completion. In addition, small groups of students have been invited to attend in-person on Fridays for two hours of tutoring support. We will continue to look for additional ways to foster growth and achievement for all students as we move forward through the year.

I want to quickly celebrate our students and staff as they continue to do an incredible job of maintaining our health and safety guidelines here at school. We also want to thank you for your partnership and all you are doing to monitor your students at home. Please continue to follow our screening guidleliness at and notify the school when you do plan to keep your student at home. Look for additional information this afternoon that will provide additional guidance. Now more than ever, we need to help our students develop resilience skills and reflect how they can have control over how they choose to respond to adversity. At Erie Middle School, we explore the 7 Mindsets of highly successful people. To learn more about the 7 Mindsets, please visit the website at The 7 Mindsets are seven mental habits that will help our students approach their lives with a positive outlook and success. We have explored Everything is Possible and Passion First. For November we have moved into the Mindset that We Are Connected.  Please take a moment to help us recognize staff and students who exemplify what it means to approach their lives with positive mindsets. Please nominate a student or staff member that you think exemplifies such mindsets  HERE

Thank you again for your partnership. Please continue to check our weekly email and website for details about upcoming events, such as our PTO Spirit Night with Papa Johns on November 12th.
