Picture Retake Day
Retake picture day is on Wednesday, October 22nd
Two types of students will come to Retake Day
*Students Who Were Absent–These students were absent for the original picture day. They will need to have their picture taken in order to appear in the yearbook. They may use their original order envelope or pick up another from the school office.
*Students Who Want a Retake–These students are not satisfied with their original pictures. Have them bring their entire picture package to the photographer. The photographer will retake the picture and we will reorder the package that was originally ordered.

Safety First

Safety First, Tigers—Together!
Let’s work as a team to keep everyone safe during arrival, dismissal, and throughout the school day.
For our students:
- Always cross the street at the crosswalk—never in the middle of the road.
- Stop, look both ways, and make sure it’s safe before crossing.
- Keep our sidewalks, crosswalks, and front entrance courtyard safe: walk your bike, scooter, skateboard, or e-bike—do not ride them in these areas.
- Thank you for being polite and holding doors for others! However, for safety, please do not hold the door open for anyone. Only a staff member should decide who enters the building.
- If you’re called to the office to leave school early, always go through the front office—even if you see your parent or guardian outside. The office staff must check you out properly to ensure you go home with the right person.
Parents, please help reinforce these safety rules by reminding your child to:
- Use the crosswalk and stay alert when near traffic.
- Walk, not ride, any wheels (bikes, scooters, etc.) once on school grounds.
- Let school staff control building access—students should not hold doors open for others.
- Always check out through the front office when leaving early.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our school community safe. It takes all of us working together!

We support you!

Did you know that Erie Middle uses a data-based approach to support student mental health at school? Twice per year, all students complete a confidential survey where they identify if they would like additional support from a school counselor or if they would like to be a part of a support group. Support groups are short term (4-6 weeks) small groups that meet once per week during Advisory. These groups create a structured setting in which students learn and discuss new skills about topics such as managing stress, navigating friendship issues, and gaining more confidence. The groups and surveys are facilitated by our Mental Health Interventionist, Ben Knighten. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to him at [email protected].

Standard Response Protocol

Does your student need a bus for the this school year?

Do you want your student to ride a bus this year? The 2025-26 Transportation Application is available on the St. Vrain Valley School District website . Click here to register.
As a reminder, registration is REQUIRED EVERY SCHOOL YEAR even if you student rode the bus this year.
Questions? Call Transportation at 303-702-7530.
Morning Drop off and Pick Up

For bus and student safety, please DO NOT ENTER the bus pick up lane in front of the school between 7:40am – 8:10am and 2:50pm – 3:15pm.
The Parent Loop is located on Cheeseman St. on the north side of the school.
Please DO NOT use the teacher parking lot as a drop off or pick up spot for your student
From the Health Office
Immunizations, Meds and Health Plans
Now is a great time to make certain that your student’s vaccination and immunization forms are up-to-date. You can also drop off any necessary emergency/daily medications for your student, with the required accompanying paperwork, to the main office Monday – Friday, from 8 am to 3:30 pm. If you have any questions about health related needs for your student, please contact our Health Clerk, Wendy Osborn ([email protected]).
Important Immunization
The State of Colorado requires students to get the TDAP immunization between the ages of 11 and 12.
This immunization tends to significantly impact our compliance as a school. If your student has recently turned 11, please make an appointment to get this immunization.
Attendance
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow

Thank you for everything you do to communicate regarding your child’s absences. We have a lot of traffic in and out of our main office during the school day so we have procedure in place to be more efficient and smooth for our students and families.
PICK UP
We strongly encourage you to fill out this google form ahead of time to expedite the pick up process. This not only helps the front office staff, but helps you get in and out quickly. We make every effort to call your student up to the office 5 minutes before the time you put on the form so they are ready to go when you get to school. If you arrive before your student makes it up to the front office, we will have you wait for them in the first lobby.
DROP OFF
When a student is coming into school late, you can sign them in ahead of time OR they can sign themselves in when they come into the office. You can drop them off, make sure they get in the front doors, and we will take it from there. When dropping off your student, there is no need for you to come into the front office with your child.
We understand that sometimes you will not be able to sign your student out until you arrive at the school. In this case, we have posted a QR code in the first lobby and have added chairs for your convenience. Please remember to bring your ID each time you pick up your student. If an ID check is needed, we will have you step into the front office. After that ID check we will have you wait for your student in the first lobby. We will have them meet you there as they come through the front office.
We have many times that the person picking up doesn’t know our procedures. Please share this information with your spouse, significant other, grandparents, siblings or anyone else that may be picking up your student.
As a reminder, always get a note from any type of appointment your student has for attendance purposes.
If your student is absent for a full day, you have 24 hours to call in with the reason for the absence, after that it will be marked unexcused. Per board policy, if a student is absent 10 days excused or not, absences will begin to be marked “unexcused” unless previously noted and approved by school administration or there is a doctor’s note provided to the school.
Extended Absences
Extended Absences: Please notify the school at least 2 weeks prior to any extended absences via our Google form. You and your student will also need to sign off on our “Extended Absence Form” located in our front office. This form helps students and parents understand how to communicate with teachers and make up schoolwork after the absence.
Code of Conduct
Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.
Please see the updated Code of Conduct. The online Code of Conduct acknowledgement form is ready for parent signature in Infinite Campus. If you are needing help with accessing and signing the Code of Conduct please see the instructions here.
8th Grade Recognition Ads
Dear 8th grade Parents/Guardians:
Are you looking for a creative way to tell your 8th grade student, “I love you and I am proud of you” now that
they are almost off to high school? If the answer is “Yes,” place a Recognition Ad in the yearbook!
Recognition ads are a great way to give your student the special attention they deserve, for everyone
to see, in YOUR school’s 2026 yearbook.
The lowest price deadline is on October 31st. Please see flyer for details. *FOR 8th GRADERS ONLY**

Breakfast
We serve breakfast starting at 7:45 in the Cafeteria and it ends at 7:50. Breakfast must be eaten in the Cafeteria. For more information regarding the “Healthy School Meals for all” please click this link.
Lunch
We eat lunch by grade level and have outside time whenever possible. Students will START outside during our lunch time and then we will bring everyone in to eat together. This year, there will be no cost for lunch. However, students will still need to enter their student number as we will track how many lunches we serve each day. We have microwaves available for students to use, and students are always welcome to bring their own lunch.
Free and Reduced Meal Program

Families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals are encouraged to complete an application by Oct. 1. While all St. Vrain Valley students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily through Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All program, submitting an application provides additional benefits to families such as fee waivers, college exam discounts, and reduced internet and utility costs, and also helps bring federal funding to support classrooms, after-school programs, technology, and additional meals and snacks for students. Applications are available online or at Nutrition Services, 2929 Clover Basin Dr., Longmont.

Engaged students are successful students! We offer a variety of clubs and intramural sports. Most of these will begin in the early part of the school year and information will be shared in the morning announcements and in our Friday newsletters.
