Tiger News
February 23, 2024

Hello Tiger Families!

We had our first home wrestling meet of the season this past week, and our students did so well! We had a HUGE turnout to watch our athletes up against Soaring Heights and Aspen Ridge. It was amazing to feel the energy from our student and parent cheering sections.

We also released the cast list for Anastasia. We have SO MANY talented students who are going to be amazing! We are also looking for stage tech help. If students are interested they can scan the QR codes on the fliers in the hall. The performances are May 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Also, parents, please take a moment to check out the Recent Updates section of our newsletter each week. This is where a lot of our information is posted.

If your student is absent for a full day, you have 24-48 hours to call in with the reason for the absence, after that it will be marked unexcused. Per board policy, if a student is absent 10 days excused or not, absences will begin to be marked “unexcused” unless previously noted and approved by school administration or there is a doctor’s note provided to the school.

Extended Absences: Please notify the school at least 2 weeks prior to any extended absences via our Google form. You and your student will also need to sign off on our “Extended Absence Form” located in our front office. This form helps students and parents understand how to communicate with teachers and make up schoolwork after the absence.

If you know your student will be absent, tardy or checking out of school please fill out this Google form.

Please provide the school with a note from the doctor, orthodontist, dentist, therapist, or any appointment each time you go.

 THE FOURTH ANNUAL
Hope & Gratitude
PROJECT
SPONSORED BY THE TOWN OF ERIE - THANK YOU!
March 1, 2024
FROM 6:00-8:00PM
This year's event will be held on Briggs Street & feature luminaries made by students & staff from most elementary & middle schools throughout Erie.
PLEASE ENTER THE EVENT FROM THE SOUTH END (BRIGGS & MOFFAT) TO ENJOY OUR LUMINARY WALK FEATURING THE HOPES & GRATITUDES OF OUR STUDENTS & STAFF MEMBERS.
We invite you to write your own hopes & gratitudes on our community luminaries when you get to the north end of the luminary walk.
Some of the restaurants near the event will be participating in a Dine-to-Donate event that evening and splitting the proceeds between participating schools. Please check social media or ask at the event to find out which restaurants are participating!
Please contact hopeandgratitude@shpk8pto.com with any questions!
More about the event...
The Hope & Gratitude project was started by the Soaring Heights PTO in 2021 as a community building event. The first year was Soaring Heights only as a drive-through event due to Covid and it was so wonderful that it's been expanded to be a community event on Briggs Street. Your parent organization is working hard to provide the opportunity for your student to create a luminary (in class) with their hopes and gratitudes written on it. They'll need lots of volunteers to help with set up (starting at 1 pm) and clean up (8-9pm) on the day of the event so we'd love if you volunteered. We hope to see you at the event!

If you would like to volunteer for this wonderful event, click here.
