Tiger News
September 29, 2023
Hello Tiger Families!
We did it! We finished September strong! This week was full of energy…parents in the building for conferences, volleyball and cross country rockin’ and rollin’, boys basketball gearing up…AND we have raised over FOURTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS for our PTO. This is AMAZING! We are less than $6,000 from our school-wide goal. Should I make an appointment to get my hair dyed orange?!?! Keep the support coming, Erie!
Also, don’t forget that our official October Count day is on Monday. Please be sure your student attends so we can have an accurate count for our school.
Happy Friday!

Thank you to our EMS sponsors!

2023 State Count Day

The 2023 STATE COUNT DAY is Monday, OCTOBER 2nd.
Attendance is an essential part of our state required October Count. It is super important that we have strong attendance on this day because our school funding from the state is based on our count.
Please help us with an accurate attendance count by making sure your student arrives at school on time on October 2nd (and every day!).
Parent Teacher Conferences
The remaining parent/teacher conferences are October 4th & 10th. 3:20 to 7:30 p.m. All Conferences are in person this fall. Conference time slots are 5-10 minutes in duration, depending on the teacher.
Have you set up an Infinite Campus Parent portal to review your student’s grades? If not, please contact our registrar, Ann Cisar at [email protected] If you are having problems signing on to Meet the Teacher, please call the school office at 303-828-3391.
From the Library
Check out the Erie Middle School Book Fair!

The Scholastic Book Fair is here (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.
We are looking for volunteers to help assist students and run cash registers at the book fair September 29-October 11. If you have a couple of hours to volunteer, please click on the SignUp link below to see what is available and if there are any shifts that work with your schedule. Together we can make this book fair a huge success!
EMS Fall 2023 Book Fair Sign Up
Do you love books? Would you like to share your love of reading with our EMS students? The EMS library is looking for some volunteers to help with all things library related: shelving and processing books, book displays and bulletin boards. If you would like to volunteer once a week or once a month, whatever works for you, just email Penny Monroe at [email protected].
Gifted and Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. Read more below in our “Recent Updates”. The window closes on October, 1st.
Attendance Tips
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow

If your student is absent for a full day, you have 24-48 hours to call in with the reason for the absence, after that it will be marked unexcused. Per board policy, if a student is absent 10 days excused or not, absences will begin to be marked “unexcused” unless previously noted and approved by school administration or there is a doctor’s note provided to the school.
Please provide the school with a note from the doctor, orthodontist, dentist, therapist, or any appointment each time you go.
If you know your student will be absent, tardy or checking out of school please fill out this Google form.
Pictures

We know it is a busy time for families and sometimes you forget to order pictures on picture day. If you forgot to order, we have great news. Families can now order their student portraits on mylifetouch.com using their student ID number.
Retakes

Retake day is scheduled for 10/19/23. If your student will be taking another photo, they will need the picture package on retake day to give to the photographer.
