Preparing our 8th graders for high school is an important part of what we do at Erie Middle School. We hope you enjoyed the EHS Open House event last week. We have been working hard to plan some important events to help your 8th grade student learn about the opportunities they will have in high school as part of preparing them for their transition. We have a lot going on in December and January for our 8th grade students, and we wanted to give you a heads up on the dates and details. Please be sure to read over the overview provided below.

SVVSD Career Elevation and Technology Center (CETC) Presentation
When: December 6, 2023 during Advisory
Where: Erie Middle School
What: The Career Elevation and Technology Center (CETC) has proudly served as the premier provider of Career and Technical Education (CTE) in the St. Vrain School District for over half a century. Staff from CETC will be presenting an overview of program offerings for all SVVSD high school students. Many of these courses are open to 9th grade students, so it is important that our 8th grade students learn about these opportunities. The CETC Open House is December 6th from 3:30 to 7:00 PM.
SVVSD Innovation Center (IC) Presentation
When: December 18, 2023 during Advisory
Where: Erie Middle School
What: Innovation Center (IC) provides experiential opportunities that are developing today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
Many of these courses are open to 9th grade students, so it is important that our 8th grade students learn about these opportunities. The IC Open House is December 6th from 3:30 to 7:00 PM.
Erie High School Future Freshman Field Trip
When: December 19th & 20th (two groups, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM)
Where: Erie High School
What: Over two days, all 8th grade students will have the opportunity to visit and tour EHS. During the visit, our students will tour the school and hear first hand what it is like to be a student from EHS. More information will be provided leading up to the field trip.
Erie High School 8th Grade Registration Night
When: January 18th, 2024, 6:00 PM
Where: Erie High School
What: Erie High School Counselors and Administrators will present key information about the EHS course registration process. Developing a 9th grade schedule is vital to supporting a successful transition to high school.
Erie High School Counselor Visits
When: January 25, 2024 during Science Classes
Where: Erie Middle School
What: Erie High Counselors will be visiting EMS to follow up with students about key information presented at 8th grade registration night. They will be making sure students have submitted the necessary paperwork to ensure proper course schedules for high school.
